Chakras, What and Why they are Important
Everyone has 7 major chakras, which are also known as energy centers. These chakras run from the base of your spine all the way to the top of your head, which is also know as the ‘crown’ of your head hence Crown Chakra. Chakra literraly means wheel or circle in Sanskrit. Each chakra carries energy and each has it own color that are based on its healing engery, crystal, element and function. We should aim to keep these chakras balanced and therefore helping you to “be your best”. Chakras are used in Chinese medicine or acupunture and are also referred to as meridians.
The seven chakra centers are the root chakra (located around the tailbone area); the sacral chakra located about 2″ below your navel; the solar plexus which is located at the top of your stomach; the heart chakra (located in that lovely place); the throat chakra; the third eye (located between your two visual eyes); and the crown chakra (located at the top of your head).
The heart chakra is the fourth chakra and is said to be the seat of balance within the body and the energy here should move in an even flow upward and downward. The colors that are associated with the heart chakra are pink and/or green. The element associated with this energy center is air. The heart chakra is the dwelling place of unconditional love and it is from this place that we can/should extend loving kindness to others and create peace within. When the heart chakra is out of balance we tend to commit unloving acts the heart hardens and the arteries begin to close leaving us vulnerable to heart disease. This center is also about the way we nurture ourselves, self love. The left breast is located over the heart.
